STUDENTS USE THE SKILLS AND CONCEPTS LEARNED TO THIS POINT TO DESIGN A SMALL HOUSE. THE HOUSE MUST NOT EXCEDE 1'000 S.F. IT MUST INCLUDE A KITCHEN/DINING AREA, AN ENTERTAINMENT AREA, SLEEPING AREA, BATHROOM AND STORAGE AREAS. STUDENTS ARE INTRODUCED TO THE CONCEPTS OF WORK TRIANGLE, FORM FOLLOWING FUNCTION, ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGN PRACTICES. STUDENTS MUST CONSIDER HEATING AND COOLING REQUIREMENTS AS WELL AS DESIGN FEATURES SUCH AS TRIM AND FINISH OPTIONS FOR THEIR STRUCTURES. EACH STUDENT CREATES A MEASURED SET OF FLOOR PLANS AS WELL AS A SITE PLAN AND FOUR ELEVATION DRAWINGS. STUDENTS WISHING TO TAKE THE PROJECT FURTHER ARE SHOWN HOW TO CREATE 2 POINT PERSPECTIVE PRESENTATION DRAWINGS AS WELL AS INTERIOR ELEVATION DRAWINGS.
